CURRENT PROBLEMS OF THE HEALTH INSURANCE SYSTEM IN BULGARIA
Abstract
This article examines the current problems faced by the health insurance system
of Bulgaria in recent years. Special attention is paid to financial problems of the system, corruption
practices, political influence, access to health services and their quality. The socio-economic
consequences on public health, risks to the social structure, efficiency of economic results are
analyzed through comparisons with other Balkan countries. At the end of the study, summaries and
recommendations for reforms in the sector are made.
