ECOLOGICAL APPROACHES FOR CONTROL FRUIT MOTHS ON STONE FRUIT SPECIES IN ORDER TO PROTECT PLANT HEALTH
Abstract
The production of organic food in order to protect human health worldwide trend, initiated by the second half of the last century. The impingement of pesticides in the human body can cause disturbances in the nervous and hormonal systems; problems with skin, eyes and lungs; carcinogenicity and other adverse effects. Unfortunately, today the chemical plant protection is the most widely applied method for the protection of agricultural produce from pests and remains one of the biggest polluters of the environment. In conventional plant protection against major diseases and pests in orchards are exclusively large number of pesticide treatments: 12-15 in plum, 10-12 in peach and other fruits.
The disadvantages of the chemical pest control and the current requirements for environmental protection required demand and the development of new environmental-friendly tools and methods for regulating the pests’ populations. In Bulgaria organic farming is now one of the priorities of the state policy and the number of farmers who are registered as manufacturers of organic products is increasing every year, as production of organic fruits is one of the best prospects. Those proceedings, however, faces serious difficulties due to the large number of pests in orchards and on the other hand, the reduced number of authorized (permitted) plant protection products for this farming system.Keywords
