DEVELOPMENT OF NON-AGRICULTURAL ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN THE TERRITORY OF LAG “TUTRAKAN – SLIVO POLE” - OPPORTUNITIES, GUIDELINES AND GOOD EUROPEAN PRACTICES

Abstract

The successful implementation of the LEADER approach in Bulgaria plays an important role in promoting innovative solutions to old and new problems in rural areas and becoming a kind of "laboratory" for developing local capabilities and for testing new ways of meeting the needs of communities in rural areas. The approach has brought valuable results in many rural areas in the EU and can play a significant role in helping rural areas in Bulgaria. LAGs have the complex task and enormous challenge of preserving rural areas, encouraging rural areas to seek new ways to become or remain competitive, make the most of their resources and overcome the challenges they face such as an aging population, low quality of service provision or lack of employment opportunities. The local community is the citizens and legal entities that have a permanent or current address or seat on the territory of the LAG and have a mutual interest in carrying out activities to achieve certain permissible goals. Up-to-date information on the micro-enterprise sector, the reasons for the lack of interest in supporting LAG “Tutrakan - Slivo Pole” will be examined. Guidelines will be developed regarding the opportunities provided for the development of small businesses, including through the application of good practices.
