Socio-economic regional disparities in Bulgaria

Abstract


The study presented in the paper concerns important aspects of the spatial development of the Bulgarian economy. The main objective is to determine the regularities and specificities of the impact of the factors determining the regional differences, to assess the extent to which the emerging economic structures at the regional level determine the potential for development; to envisage expected changes in these structures and their impact on economic development, respectively the processes of regional convergence / divergence. The survey is carried out at the following levels: analysis of differences in the regional economic structure at the level of statistical regions and districts. The statistical information is based on data from the National Statistical Institute and Eurostat. The analysis uses statistical and economic methods, as well as the use of shift share analyzes and methods.
