SOCIAL HOMEOSTASY - THEORY OF ETHNOCULTURAL IDENTITY

Krasimir Asenov

Abstract

The concept of homeostasis is usually associated with the ability of living organisms to maintain a relatively stable internal state. Recently, scientists from various fields have used this term for other sectors of science. Environmentalists believe that the principle of homeostasis is relevant to the global environment in which modern civilization is developing. Homeostasis is already talked about in cybernetics, psychology, social sciences, etc.

As an open system, human communities manifest principled states that can be recognized as forms of social homeostasis. Maintaining positive demographic growth, resistance to acculturation processes, balancing migration processes, manifestations of the phenomenon of preferred identity, the presence of high levels of intra-community control, high levels of the gray economy, etc., are just some of the phenomena that manifest as processes maintaining the ethno-cultural integrity, identity and physical survival of the collective body. By their characteristics, these and similar processes create conditions for the normal functioning of a collective body (group, community, people, etc.), from which it follows that the introduction of the term social homeostasis in scientific circulation is conditioned and relevant.
