THE EUROSYSTEM'S ECONOMIC POLICY – A GUARANTEE FOR SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
Bulgaria's accession to the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) will actually represent the final phase of our country's European integration. With the signing of the EU Accession Treaty in June 2005 (in force since 1 January 2007), Bulgaria committed to replacing its national currency with the euro, but without the legal act providing for a deadline for this. Until the moment of accession to the EMU, our country has the status of a member state with a derogation, which means that it does not have full rights in the EMU. After the implementation of unilaterally undertaken preliminary commitments, including the establishment of close cooperation within the Banking Union, in 2020 the Bulgarian lev was officially included in ERM II.
