MODEL OF AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP: CHARACTERISTICS, COMPONENTS AND APPLICATION IN ORGANIZATIONAL PRACTICE

Milena Hadzhiivanova

Abstract

The article presents the development and empirical validation of a seven-component model of authentic leadership, designed in alignment with contemporary organizational dynamics in Bulgaria. The process follows several stages: theoretical framework analysis, identification of key leadership attitudes and behaviors, qualitative research through expert interviews, and synthesis of the final model. The quantitative phase includes data from 255 participants who evaluated the importance of each component, allowing for ranking within the leadership profile. The highest-rated components were reliability and integrity, commitment to selfimprovement, and self-awareness. The paper concludes with a discussion on the practical applications of the model in leadership training, coaching practices, and organizational diagnostics.
