STRATEGIES FOR IMPLEMENTING ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE

Delyan Plachkov

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of organizational change as an inherent feature of modern life and effective management. It examines the key external and internal forces that drive the need for change, and categorizes organizational transformations into adaptive, innovative, and radically renewing types. The paper outlines major strategies for managing change, including directive, negotiation-based, normative, analytical, and action-oriented approaches, along with the conditions under which they are implemented. It also presents two models for strategic development management – reactive and actively systematic – as well as a real-time change model. Special attention is given to the key factors influencing strategic choice, such as change tempo, resistance, power dynamics, and information requirements. The conclusion emphasizes the manager’s responsibility to adapt to evolving environments and the importance of flexible, informed, and timely decision-making in managing organizational transformation.
