Gospodin Peykov

Abstract

Echinococcosis / from Latin: Echinococcosi / or also called canine tapeworm is a zooanthroponosis with a chronic course and most often, about 50-60% of cases, affects the liver, secondly - the lungs (35%), brain (3-5%), spleen, kidneys, etc. The causes are parasites belonging to the so-called biohelminths.

The article discusses issues related to the geographical distribution and life cycle of Echinococcosis. Special attention is paid to clinical signs, prevention and diagnosis, including differential. The study presents the treatment, medical examination and some of the most common complications of echinococcosis.

In conclusion, it is stated that Echinococcosis is an example of an uncontrollable increase in infected people. Bulgaria ranked second in limiting echinococcosis among the population by 1976, and by 2011 it was already first in the European Union in the incidence of canine tapeworm, exceeding several times the registered cases in other countries. The reason for this is poor hygiene and disturbed ecology.
