SURVIVAL AND WINTER RESISTANCE OF GARDEN PEA VARIETIES

Abstract


In the experimental fields of IZK "Maritsa" a three-year comparative experience with six varieties from the working collection of the institute for identifying survival, winter resistance and productivity of pea varieties in autumn sowing in two sowing rates was conducted. Varieties Iskar, Plovdiv pearl and Plovdiv are characterized by a high degree of winter hardiness (the number of overwintered plants as a percentage of plants that sprouted before winter) at both sowing rates. The three genotypes are representatives of the three groups of maturity - early, medium early and late and confirm the results of the analysis of the factors of variation for the insignificant influence of the genotype in the experiment. The main and determining factor in the variation of the indicators are the conditions in the years of cultivation. The medium-early variety Plovdiv is characterized by a high degree of winter hardiness and optimal productivity of green pods and green grain during autumn sowing with increased sowing rate. Garden pea of pre-winter sowing entered technological maturity 8 to 16 days earlier than spring sowing and provided optimal productivity at high sowing rates. Garden Peas could be grown in our country with pre-winter sowing, and in unfavorable climatic conditions are risked the used seeds.
